About repair to data recovery on smartphones/cell phones /mobile phones.

For sure, any other device in the past has managed to be “closer to the customer” than the smartphone or cell phone. It is our constant companion with which we organize our lives, document it, orient ourselves, entertain ourselves or be entertained, record ideas, set appointments, pay for purchases or to put it quite simply: communicate digitally.

Even worse if it breaks and there is no backup.

Saving data on smartphones or cell phones begins where all “inexpensive” measures end. Remember that a “simple, inexpensive repair” often only focuses on restoring the device to operational status, not reconstructing the data. This is often achieved by replacing components (board, display, etc.). It can happen that a customer receives a repaired and functional device, but the lost data is no longer available. Therefore, consider carefully whether you can risk losing the data or whether you would rather have a professional data recovery company carry out the “repair”.

As with the rescue of all other data carriers, we differentiate between logical error patterns and physical damage.

Information about the logical error pattern:

Classic logical errors include data such as photos, videos, chat histories, apps or emails that have been deleted from the device’s internal memory. This category also includes resetting to factory settings (reset) and software errors that can often occur after an incorrect update. The latter often lead to a so-called boot loop. This means that the operating system, whether Android or IOS, keeps restarting in an endless loop without entering operational mode.

Data deleted – respond correctly

As soon as you have deleted data or even performed a reset, switch off your smartphone so that as few old data fragments as possible are overwritten by new ones. Even if a smartphone is not in use but is switched on, data (e.g. timestamps, logs, app updates, GPS location data) is written to the internal memory in the background.

Increase the chance of successfully recovering your data and contact us. Because we can create a secure 1:1 image of the memory and perform a RAW scan of the complex smartphone file system without changing its structure.

Physical Damage Information:

Whether the smartphone has fallen into the water, the circuit board has suffered voltage damage, the display is broken or simply remains black, all of this is damage to the hardware and therefore we speak of physical damage.

Our approaches and procedures for data recovery from iOS, Android or Windows Mobile operating systems are based on the respective damage pattern and the respective manufacturer/model in order to put the device into a state at least once that allows a complete memory image of the smartphone’s NAND chip to generate data for later rescue.

Water damage – react correctly:

There is a widespread belief that cell phones that have fallen into water should be dried in rice, with a hair dryer, or in the oven. However, to avoid further damage to the circuit board and chipsets, we strongly advise against this! To prevent corrosion on the electronics and chipsets, we recommend storing them in an airtight container or bag and contacting a specialist. Please note that switching on too quickly when there is residual moisture inside the device can lead to a short circuit on the circuit board.

For us, professional data reconstruction is our focus right from the start. Various methods can be used for this. Starting with a complete cleaning of moisture residues and corrosion, up to the removal of memory chips and separate reading of these chip technology components. Restoring defective devices to an operational state only plays a minor role and, if at all, only serves as a means to the end of reconstructing the data as completely as possible.

Restoring data after moisture damage requires significantly more time and also requires large investments in appropriate technological equipment. This explains the price differences between a “mobile phone repair” and professional measures to reconstruct data from damaged mobile devices.

Which data on your smartphone can we recover?

  • Address book including contact
  • Pictures, videos
  • Call logs, SMS/MMS, emails
  • News and GEO information
  • Text files, email contacts, calendar
  • Memos/notes, web browser history/bookmarks
  • Cookies, audios
  • In-applications: Facebook, FB Messenger, Google+, Skype, Ping Chat, Messenger, Evernote, Signal, ICQ (decryption of the database and reconstruction of contacts, chats, chat attachments and user accounts), WhatsApp (media)

It is important to us that our customers understand that smartphone/cell phone data reconstruction is a very complex process. For many years now, new device lines have been released every quarter from a wide variety of manufacturers, each with different technology and different chipsets and increasingly complex encryption algorithms – now with a combination of hardware and software encryption. This makes a complex repair necessary.

The declared goal of our work is to save the data and not to repair the devices. If we still need to repair the smartphone in order to activate hardware encryption, we still recommend that you stop using these devices. We do not guarantee repairs or long-term functionality.

Which smartphones can we recover?

All manufacturers and models: iPhone, Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, Huawei, Nokia, Sony, HTC, ZTE, Motorola, Microsoft and many more.

All of this also applies to tablets. The defective device will only be repaired for data recovery purposes. We do not guarantee long-term functionality.

We can only determine the exact effort as well as a detailed description of the error and the prognosis after an initial diagnosis/damage assessment in our analysis report and communicate our offer for data recovery by email.
